What is an "Encounter?" We believe that the first step in becoming a disciple is to be free indeed. Jesus said: "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will SET YOU FREE" (John 8:31-32, NIV). An Encounter Retreat is a weekend short course in freedom; freedom from habits, bondages, bitterness, wrong thoughts, and past mistakes. At the Encounter, the Lord will set you free through the power of the Cross.
Who will be there? Each Encounter is led by a Austin Power House leader or staff member, who is assisted by his or her 12 (which is a group of twelve people the leader has been personally mentoring). Men and women attend gender-specific Encounters. There are also Youth gender-specific Encounters too. Generally, Encounter groups contain between 40 and 60 people, but some Encounters have had up to 100 people in attendance.
Where is the Encounter Retreat held? All Encounters are currently held at Austin Power House Church providing you with the best hospitality and consistently serve good food!
What is the schedule of the Retreat? Friday evening, we begin with registration and room assignments at 5pm. There will be sessions and activities that evening, throughout Saturday. You will then return to Austin Power House Church for a welcome home reception with your family and friends which is an exciting, high-energy finale to the Retreat.
How do I get ready to go? First, you must register at the Guest Information booth in the APH lobby or Contact the Office at 512-416-1600. We will then follow up on your request and be sure that you are ready for the most wonderful weekend of personal freedom you have ever imagined! You will then attend the newcomers (a.k.a. pre-encounter) class 7pm, Wednesday, the week before the encounter. Last, get ready to join the thousands of others who have attended Encounter Retreats, and may the Lord meet you there in all of His love for you!
